Teni is a lawyer and carbon finance expert on the Kyoto Protocol’s Clean Development Mechanism. She attained her Bachelors Degree (LLB) and Masters Degree from the University of Warwick, UK. With her Master’s Degree, she specializes in Climate Change and carbon credits and financing/ Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). Teni is also a certified ESG expert focusing on the framework and regulations governance. She has completed several courses on Renewable Energy and Sustainability at the Welsh Institute of Natural Resources University of Bangor Wales UK, a programme funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and UNIDO, since then she has written several articles on CDM’s, carbon credits and climate change, and recently certified through her participation in the ESG CERTIFICATE Programme. 

As a lawyer, she trained and practiced at FRA Williams Chambers, and is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the International Federation of Female Lawyers (FIDA), and the Green House Gas (GHG Experts) Management Institute. She also sits on the Inter-ministerial Committee on Climate Change of the Federal Ministry of Environment, the Committee on Bio fuels to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), and an active participant in the African working group for CDM capacity development. 

Formerly the ED of ENSOL Environmental Solutions Ltd, she single handed, managed and establish its Government appointed title “Centre of Excellence on Climate Change to the Federal Government of Nigeria” which also led to the launch of the Centre of Excellence Annual Media Programme (CAMP)1[1]. She also liaises with the Federal Ministry of Environment’s Special Climate Change Unit (SCCU) on a daily basis (which is the Designated National Authority DNA to the UNFCCC for Nigeria) on putting together procedures in line with the UNFCCC regulations on CDM’s and renewable projects and assisting in capacity building and manpower development in relation to climate change as a whole and CDM’s. Teni also sits on the committee that reports to the UNFCCC on “Negotiating Nigerian’s position (Legal Drafting Team) towards Copenhagen 2009 and onwards. She also advised in preparing 1st and 2nd National Communications to UNFCCC. She has also advises several multilateral organisations (UNDP, UNIDO, UNREDD) to formulate their carbon market strategies and policies. 

She also liaises with International Organisations such as UNDP, UNFCCC UNEP RISOE, UNIDO and the World Bank through the SCCU especially in relation to developing needs assessment on adaptation and mitigation towards climate change in Nigeria.
